About

Our History

The Juneau Tlingit & Haida Community Council (JTHCC) was established in 1968 as a political subdivision of the Central Council of Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska to serve tribal members living in the community of Juneau, Alaska. Today, JTHCC proudly represents more than 7,000 tribal citizens who live in the Juneau.

Over the decades, JTHCC has grown into a central hub for programs, cultural activities, and events that strengthen our community ties. These initiatives help preserve cultural traditions, create opportunities for connection, and support the well-being of Tribal Citizens and their families.

From the early days of hosting basketball games and skating in our hall to launching cultural camps, youth programs, and community benefit programs, our mission has always been the same:

“To protect and promote the well-being of our people while honoring our Tlingit and Haida heritage”.
